Land Compliance Specialist
Job Title: Land Compliance Specialist
Focus: Regulatory Compliance & Land Due Diligence
Type: Full-Time
The Opportunity:
Where Accuracy Protects Asset Value
Burgex Mining Consultants is the “Tech-Enabled Specialist” for the mining industry. We are looking for an ultra-detailed Land Compliance Specialist to join our Landman Department in Sandy, Utah.
As a Land Compliance Specialist at Burgex, you are the ultimate line of defense for our clients’ assets. In our world, “Ground Truth” isn’t found on a remote ridge or on a map projection, it is found in the absolute accuracy of public land records, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) regulations, and county statutes. You will be responsible for ensuring that our clients’ mining claims open for mineral entry.
What You Will Do (The Mission)
- Execute Land Due Diligence: Conduct rigorous research through federal, state, and county databases (like MLRS) to verify land status and ensure target areas are open to mineral entry.
- Draft Critical Documents: Write Notices of Intent to Locate and review Location Notices with precision to ensure all wording matches individual state statutory requirements.
- Manage Annual Filings: Own the lifecycle of claim maintenance, including tracking and executing annual BLM maintenance fee payments and filing county affidavits on time, every time.
- Protect the Process: Report directly to the Senior Compliance Manager, maintaining a highly organized digital filing system and rare, targeted trips to state BLM or county recorder offices when physical record pulling is required.
The “Burgex Fit” (Who You Are)
- You Are Detail-Obsessed: You don’t just skim documents; you read the fine print. To you, a misplaced digit or a missed deadline isn’t a small mistake, it’s a compromised project. You take deep personal pride in flawless execution.
- You Are a Puzzle Solver: You enjoy digging through historical records, connecting dots across different databases, and verifying the exact truth of a property’s history.
- You Are Process-Driven: You love a good checklist, you live by deadlines, and you naturally build structured workflows to keep complex compliance schedules on track.
- You Are Eager to Learn: You don’t need a background in mining or land management, we will train you on everything. You just need the drive; the curiosity, and the work ethic to master a highly specialized industry.
- You are a Team Player: You resonate and hold our same core values. Teamwork, Growth, Integrity, We Own It, We are Confident, Choose Safety Always. And you like dogs.
Qualifications & Experience
- The Core Requirement: An uncompromised, verifiable history of extreme attention to detail (whether from a past administrative, legal, data-entry, or academic setting).
- Experience: Early-career candidates are highly encouraged to apply. No previous Landman or mining experience is required. We will train the right person.
- Technical Skills:
- Mastery of standard office tools, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Comfort navigating complex online databases and search portals.
- Familiarity with or exposure to ArcGIS Pro is a major “nice-to-have,” but not required.
- Location & Travel: Based out of our Sandy, UT office (90% office/hybrid, 10% occasional local travel to pull physical records).
Why Burgex?
- True Specialized Training: Learn a highly profitable, specialized skill set from our Senior Compliance Manager and land professionals. You will understand the legal machinery that drives the U.S. mining sector.
- Culture of Excellence: Work with a team that values your quiet, high-focus “deep work” just as much as our active field operations.
- Growth: We are a fast-growing firm scaling toward new regional expansions. We prefer to build our team from the ground up and promote from within.
- Benefits: Competitive pay, 401k match, flexible PTO, and hybrid flexibility after your initial onboarding period.
To Apply: Please submit your resume and a brief example when your attention to detail saved a project or caught a critical error.
Senior Contract Geologist
Job Title: Senior Contract Geologist
Focus: Exploration & Field Services Location: USA (Field)
Type: Contract
The Opportunity: Where “Ground Truth” Meets Data Burgex Mining Consultants is the “Tech-Enabled Specialist” for the mining industry. We are looking for an ambitious Senior Contract Geologist to complement our Exploration team.
As a Senior Contract Geologist at Burgex, you are the eyes and ears of the firm. You will work at the intersection of traditional field exploration and modern data intelligence. You will be responsible for gathering the “Ground Truth”—the critical field data that feeds our valuations, engineering models, and our proprietary Mineralocity platform.
If you are comfortable in a 4×4 on a remote ridge and comfortable building a map in GIS, this is the place to excel your career.
What You Will Do (The Mission)
- Execute Field Programs: You will lead and support field campaigns across the Mountain West. This includes soil/rock sampling, geologic mapping, and project management.
- Drill Program Management: Oversee drilling operations (Core/RC). You will manage subcontractors, log core, and ensure that every foot of data is recorded accurately and safely.
- Digital Integration: Take the data you collect in the field and integrate it into the office workflow. You will use ArcGIS/QGIS to digitize maps, manage sample databases, and assist in creating technical reports.
- Safety Stewardship: You will often be the Burgex representative on-site. You are responsible for maintaining a culture of safety, managing MSHA compliance, and ensuring subcontractors follow protocols.
The “Burgex Fit” (Who You Are)
- You Are Field-Ready: You thrive outdoors. You understand that exploration happens in rain, snow, and heat, and you know how to handle a vehicle and yourself in remote terrain.
- You Are Tech-Forward: You don’t fear software. You see GIS not just as a mapping tool, but as a way to solve problems.
- You Are Curious: You are eager to learn about Construction Aggregates and Industrial Minerals, understanding that the economics of a sand quarry are just as fascinating as a gold mine.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or Earth Science (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant field experience (strong internship experience will be considered).
- Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data management.
- Field Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Experience with 4WD vehicles and off-road driving.
- Physical ability to hike in rugged terrain and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Travel: Willingness to travel and be in the field
Why Burgex?
- Mentorship: Work directly alongside Principal Consultants and Engineers. You won’t be siloed; you will learn the business of mining from the ground up.
- Variety: One week you might be mapping a limestone deposit for a quarry; the next, you might be sampling for precious metals.
- Growth: We are a fast-growing firm. We prefer to promote from within, offering a clear path from Staff Geologist to Senior Geologist.
To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief note about your field experience.
