Junior Geologists

Part-time, Contract

Burgex Mining Consultants is currently looking for Junior Geologists for full-time and part-time work. If you like being outdoors and hiking this is an opportunity to get paid for doing those activities. We are looking for individuals who have a strong work ethic, sound understanding of geology, a willingness to do field work doing labor, and work well in a team setting.

About the Role:

The Jr. Geologist works with minimum direct supervision, providing a range of logistic and operations support to the team. The role encompasses both generalist field support tasks (e.g., camp set-up, basic maintenance, safety procedures) and specialized tasks (e.g., know how to use a GPS, GIS mapping, sampling, geological mapping). Burgex is willing to train on technical specifics, but an ideal candidate will already possess the skills and requirements listed below.

The work environment can vary widely based on geographic region and terrain. The position will be primarily field work with the possibility of some office work. Field activities will consist of soil, rock, and sediment sampling, geological mapping and interpretation, geological logging and interpretation of core and RC drilling, and possibly claim staking.

Requirements:

  • Fundamentals of Geology 
  • Must be able to hike long distances in remote environments
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivator
  • Be comfortable working alone outside
  • Have basic mechanic skills (i.e.: field repairs)

Skills:  

  • GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS)
  • Know how to use a GPS
  • Know basic first aid
  • Be able to hike for 8+hrs a day, for multiple days
  • Know the principles of off-roading and 4WD

Pay: $300/day

Field Technicians

Part-time, Contract

Burgex Mining Consultants is currently looking for Field Technicians for full-time and part-time work field work in the Western United States. If you like being outdoors and hiking, this is a great opportunity to get paid doing those activities. We are looking for individuals who have a strong work ethic, a willingness to do field work, and work well in a team setting.

 

About the Role:

The Field Tech works with minimum direct supervision, after the initial training, providing a range of logistic and operations support to the team. The role encompasses both generalist field support tasks (e.g., placing boundary markers in the ground/claim staking, prepping gear for field work, and helping team accomplish the project in a safe and efficient manner). Burgex will train on technical specifics, the ideal candidate will have a strong wiliness to work and learn new skills.

 

The work environment can vary widely based on geographic region and terrain. This position will be primarily fieldwork. The Field Tech spends most of their time outside and can be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Burgex is based out of Sandy, UT; however, most of the fieldwork will be conducted in the Western United States. Software Developer – Full Stack

About the Role

Burgex Mining Consultants are seeking a talented and experienced Software Developer to join our team! In this role, you will be key in designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting our software solutions used in the mining and construction aggregate industry. You will utilize various skills in frontend, backend, and API development to deliver exceptional user experiences while ensuring secure and scalable systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using various programming languages and frameworks.
  • Continuously improve the software architecture to align with evolving needs and technologies.
  • Develop and enhance user interfaces and user experiences for our applications.
  • Build and implement server-side functionalities, databases, and APIs.
  • Integrate third-party services and components to extend the software’s capabilities.
  • Implement and maintain secure access control and user management systems.
  • Integrate ArcGIS mapping functionality for geospatial analysis and visualization.
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs for seamless external system integration.
  • Conduct automated and manual testing to ensure software quality and performance.
  • Identify and resolve bugs to maintain software stability and usability.
  • Implement and maintain Federated Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.
  • Host and manage WordPress applications for content management.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services for collaboration and productivity.
  • Manage and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Monitor and manage the software’s deployment on the AWS cloud platform.
  • Update and maintain comprehensive documentation for future reference.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to clients on using the software effectively.
  • Address any issues, bugs, or enhancement requests identified after implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related field. A degree in Computer Science is also acceptable.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Software Developer.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
  • Experience with building APIs and integrating with third-party systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with ArcGIS integration a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
